We have prepared for you a wide choice of excursions, from a few hours to the whole day, to optimize your stay and allow you to appreciate the many different aspects of our varied territory.
Where possible, we recommend the use of public transport which allows greater freedom of movement on itineraries that do not include the return to the starting point to “recover” the car; leave your car at the Hotel Canali and forget about the problems of traffic, parking and fines …!
The combined use of boat + train is ideal for visiting Camogli, the Cinque Terre and Portovenere.
We are ready to give you the best advice, whether you are an adventurous sportsman or a quiet tourist looking for relaxation …
A visit to Portofino is inevitable: don’t limit yourself to the famous Piazzetta; going up to the Church of San Giorgio you can enjoy a splendid panorama, the Brown Castle often hosts interesting exhibitions and the short walk to the lighthouse puts you in front of the great beauty of the open sea.
We recommend continuing with the next boat (in season one every hour) towards the incredible San Fruttuoso, in the heart of Mount Portofino, with its white Abbey and its two enchanting beaches: it can be reached only by boat or on foot through suggestive paths and it’s an experience not to be missed!
We recommend a visit to the Abbey of San Fruttuoso (10th-13th century) which hosts concerts and exhibitions and the ancient tiny village where you can taste typical dishes directly on the beach … Do not forget the swimsuit!
Rapallo also offers its guests the possibility of an excursion by cable car: a few minutes to reach the approximately 600 meters of altitude of Montallegro from which you can enjoy wide panoramas of the Tigullio Gulf and Portofino. We recommend a visit to the Sanctuary of Montallegro which contains hundreds of extraordinary ex votos with historical and artistic, cultural and folkloric value. From there, for trekking and mountain-bike enthusiasts, ancient mule tracks that connect the Sanctuary with Rapallo, Uscio, Cicagna and Chiavari depart, and also an easy path where the less sporty can still walk in the cool of a dense holm oak forest …
A new proposed way to experience our sea is offered by Outdoor Portofino which offers kayak excursions and other marine activities in the unspoiled nature of the Portofino Marine Park. (www.outdoorportofino.com)
Do not miss a visit to Genoa: the Aquarium is truly grandiose, set in the frame of the Old Port, a few minutes from the railway station in Piazza Principe and the historic center, the largest in Europe. A pleasant walk then allows you to see the historic Palazzi dei Rolli, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the streets of the center with unique monumental buildings that express the power and testify to the greatness in the history of Genoa called “the Superb”. There are many ways to visit Genoa, from “do it yourself” to guided tours, from the tour on the open bus to boat excursions to discover the Port etc.
Liguria is not just beaches and sea: its hinterland offers beautiful landscapes and really deserves to be visited by car or motorbike!
The mountains in the immediate hinterland of Rapallo exceed 1300 meters but being a few kilometers as the crow flies from the sea enjoy a special climate in all seasons of the year: they can be reached quickly from the coast thanks to beautiful and panoramic roads and enclose fascinating paths often with a view to the sea.
